Would give 6 stars if I could! I have my boat down in the Keys and I have been fishing hard there for about 15 years. I first used Jose as a bait guy, and he was always reliable for getting me great baits. I decided to hire him to help us target different species as I was usually trying to entertain friends and just relax for my shorter trips to the Keys. To sum it up — this dude is a prodigy in this game. He is a for sure young gun that people will be seeing more and more of in the near future. He is a commercial fisherman that spends countless hours on the water perfecting his craft, so making sure his client’s get fish is a piece of cake for Jose. After several trophy fish and great trips on the water, I am now proud to call Jose a very good friend. I recommend Above and Below and Captain Jose for any species in the Keys. As the owner of a large hunting operation in Ohio, I know what it’s like to provide great customer service and get a client the trophy of their dreams…and Jose definitely performs! Tight lines!

5+++Stars…Captain Joe was spectacular. He made my bday weekend extremely special. We fished multiple species and caught all our target fish. His knowledge as well as his pops were impressive. We have already booked for May for Mutton’s and Groupers!!! I highly recommend this fishing charter experience to anyone that wants to load up with fish and learn in the process. Jose’s charters are second to none! When it comes to fishing, he has the midas touch—as in golden hot spots, yellow brick roads teeming with swarms of yellowtail. I went from never catching a fish in my life, to reeling in 40+ pounds of giant yellowtail and black grouper. In terms of the ride, his boat was comfortable and I stayed dry. There were a few large waves, but his 34-foot Seavee cut through them like butter. And, he cleaned and filleted our fish!!!! It was an unforgettable experience and I highly recommend Above and Below! I’ve been out with a few different charters in the Florida keys and this was by far the best. We caught fish at every stop and wasn’t long before we filled the cooler. Unforgettable day on the water!
Just booked with Above and Below charter, and one of my favorite experience out on the water. The Capt Jose was VERY knowledgeable. Knows all the best spots, how to hook and bait each different fish. Made my first time and even my seasoned friends feel comfortable and excited.
The vessel was well maintained, clean and had everything you needed for every fish and even to keep yourself hydrated.
Capt Jose knew the local waters like the back of his hand. We had fish on the boat within an hour of setting off.
Definitely will book for my next trip! Highly recommend if your looking for a fun day on the water or if you want to tighten your skills on the craft.

“Best Fishing Trip Ever!” We booked a full day with Above & Below out of their Key West location and it was nonstop action! The Mahi bite was HOT 🔥 and Captain Jose put us right on the fish. The boat was clean, comfortable, and fully loaded — top-tier gear and plenty of space for the whole crew.
We reeled in more Mahi than we could count and even had time to relax and enjoy the ride back through the beautiful Key West. Easily one of the best charters we’ve ever been on. Can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely amazing time. Not only did we catch a ton of fish (including our limit on snapper!), but what really set this trip apart was the attention to detail after we got back to the dock. Our catch was expertly cleaned, packaged, and overnighted back to New York—fresh, perfect, and ready for the grill. That level of service is hard to find and shows how much pride they take in the full experience.

This was my first time out with captain Jose and I was impressed with his knowledge and drive to get our party of three on fish. Conditions were not ideal with wind against current and as usual a marine forecast that was far from actual conditions, but his determination and experience got us on flag yellowtail, mutton snapper, and the biggest yellow jack I’ve ever seen. I will definitely be booking more trips. I highly recommend this captain! Thank you Jose.
